HOTEL LOBBY INTERIOR DESIGN
Moxy Utrecht is designed by JHK Architecten from Utrecht. Interior styling is done by Wieneke van Gemeren.
Moxy is part of Marriott Hotels and a more trendy and young brand, something you can see in the interior of the lobby right away!
Local design plays a big part in the interior of the Moxy lobby. The use of the iconic colour-palette of the Utrecht-born architect Rietveld (red, blue and yellow with black borders) is used throughout the space.
At the entrance it’s hard to miss a giant version of Rietveld’s iconic Red and Blue Chair. The sign next to it says you can sit in it, so of course there was no need to tell me twice, haha.
Opposite the Rietveld-chair, there is a -very Dutch- bike rental area, with an industrial-looking metal chest of drawers (love the glass dome on top of it and the Dutch bicycle traffic sign), and there are several seating areas featuring chairs from the next-door De Pastoe Fabriek, all with different pillows (love the monogrammed pillow cases and the pop-art mouth pillow).
I couldn’t find an exact copy of the brown leather Scandinavian-style chair (my grandfather used to have a similar one), but here are some different ones I found on Amazon: type 1, type 2, type 3.
I didn’t get a good picture of the bar (there were too many people sitting there), but I snapped a shot of the leather bar chairs, which I though were really cool. They are from Dutch company Dutchbone, but here is an IKEA dupe and similar set on amazon.
The long black metal and light wood console table with plants acts as a good divider of the room, as do the carpets and the big compartmentalized bookcase (with that funny smiley lamp).
Other small elements are a wire basket floor lamp, the twig-like ceiling lamp and the fun letter lightbox on the reception desk.

HOTEL ROOM INTERIOR DESIGN
The bed in our room was a large double with brown leather pillows on a wooden headboard (see similar types of leather headboards here). The bedding is soft with white stripes and white pillowcases.
Next to the bed are rounded black metal bedlamp on each side. Couldn’t find the exact ones, but here is a similar one.
One side of the bed also has a nice seating area, with two-toned black leather pillows.
The other side of the bed has a small wooden stool as a side table, by the design of MAGIS.

HOTEL BATHROOM INTERIOR DESIGN
The bathroom is small, with black walls and a giant round, lit mirror with a brown leather strap at the top.
The sink is a bit small and oddly shaped, with a wooden plank under it to hold towels, extra toilet paper and a hairdryer.
In the shower, there is hair & body cream and conditioner by MUK. in cute pink bottles. Very on-brand with the pink in Moxy’s logo!

HOTEL WORK AREA INTERIOR DESIGN
Opposite of the bed is a 42-inch flat screen television with a black wire lamp next to it.
There is also a small working area with a brown leather + grey fabric ottoman. I tried really hard to find the lamp and ottoman online (or something similar) – but so far without success. If you have suggestions, do let me know!
The desk is a wooden shelf hold up by two brown leather straps on the same type of black wire wall grid rack as in the entryway. There are also black wooden hangers and a brown leather magazine pouch.
